Martin Bright

Investigative journalist
London, United Kingdom
Martin worked for over a decade for the Guardian and Observer newspapers in the United Kingdom where he broke a number of stories involving whistleblowers. He went on to become the Political Editor of the New Statesman and the Jewish Chronicle (where he was the first non-Jew to hold the post). In 2009 he set up the youth employment charity Creative Society to address the downturn sparked by the banking crisis. The Hollywood movie Official Secrets (2019), starring Keira Knightley as the Iraq War whistleblower Katharine Gun was based on a story he broke for the Observer in 2003. He is currently working on a documentary about oil industry whistleblower Jonathan Taylor, whose disclosures of bribes paid by SBM Offshore around the world led to $800m of fines.
