Big leak, big names? How to keep the focus on structures

When two whistleblowers gave the EIC team of journalists access to a trove of documents pointing at dodgy tax dealings via the UK island of Jersey, team members made a pledge to each other. Let's not only focus on the individual cases we may find in the data, they said to each other, lets' instead focus on the bigger picture: When trust funds can get away with dodging taxes, how is it done, who allows this to happen? Of course there is the human story - the background of the whistleblowers would make for a novel in itself. And it needs to be told for the credibility of the story. But what then? In this session, the initiator, the coordinator and one of the journalists will tell about the making of #JerseyOffshore and the considerations on how to work with this spectacular leak of documents.
