Learning how to code is easier than ever, and the benefits of knowing a bit of programming far outweigh the pain of learning. In this talk, we'll demonstrate the advantages of working in a programming language versus using spreadsheets or not using software tools at all. The talk is aimed both at budding data journalists, to encourage them to learn more, and absolute beginners, to give them a sense of what's possible in the modern data journalism universe.
