Thanasis Troboukis
iMEdD Data Journalist
Athens, Greece
I'm a journalist based in Athens, Greece with a background in documentary production and lately (the last two years) in data journalism. I'm working at iMEdD, a non-profit organization founded in 2018 with the mission to support and promote the transparency, credibility, and independence in journalism on the grounds of securing meritocracy and excellence in the field.
During this conference, I'm interested in learning new tools and methodologies that will advance my investigative skills and will help me produce data-driven stories that will have an impact.
Regarding my work background, I was the head of content for VICE MEDIA in Greece, my investigative story about child trafficking between Greece and Bulgaria was shortlisted for the Investigative Award of the European Press Prize 2017. I took part in the ICIJ’s cross border investigation "Paradise Papers" and later I was trained in Data Journalism at the LEDE program of Columbia Journalism School in New York, with a full scholarship from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
